Great Tew Horse Trials, 2005

Nicholson Nurseries was proud to be associated with the inaugural Great Tew Estate Horse Trials.

Held amid the splendid rolling parkland of the historic Estate, the two-day event was staged over the weekend of June 11th and 12th. Although a totally new venture for the Estate, the feedback from competitors and spectators alike has been enormously positive. The typically Cotswold landscape lends itself so well to such occasions, and was especially well received for the quality, imagination and viewing spectacle of the cross country course. Designed by the highly respected partnership of Mike and Charles Etherington-Smith, this featured seventeen challenging fences, and Nicholsons was delighted to be the sponsor for the final fence on the pre-novice course.

Dressage, Show Jumping and Cross Country made up the three disciplines for competitors, while various trade stands and a craft and food fayre added to the attraction for visitors. After such favourable reviews it now looks almost certain that the Great Tew Trials will become a permanent fixture in the eventing calendar and, as Charles E-S said himself, watch out Chatsworth and Blenheim!
