Location
Map
You
are welcome to visit the are Nursery during office and
nursery opening hours, which are: Monday to Friday,
7:30am to 4:00pm. We
regret that the site is not open weekends.
North
Aston is located in the Cherwell district of north Oxfordshire,
between Banbury and Oxford. Access is easy from all
surrounding counties, such as Buckinghamshire, Warwickshire,
Northamptonshire, Gloucestershire, Berkshire, Wiltshire
and Worcestershire. Visitors from further afield will
appreciate the close proximity of Junction 10 of the
M40.
Directions
From
Oxford and the South, head north along
the A4260 towards Banbury. A mile beyond Hopcrofts Holt
Hotel, standing beside the only set of traffic lights
between Kidlington and Adderbury, you will encounter
a short length of dual carriageway. (Ignore any turnings
you may have seen to Steeple or Middle Aston). Half
a mile north of where the dual carriageway ends, and
immediately after the Gatzo speed camera, there is a
crossroads. Take up the central reservation in preparation
for a right turn. Be aware that "The Fox"
is a notoriously dangerous junction!
Follow
the signs for North Aston. Within the
mile you will pass the name sign for the village, cross
a set of rumble strips and enter the 30 mph restricted
zone. Prepare to turn right along the lane signposted
Middle Aston. Having done so you will, almost immediately,
see a driveway to your left and a large sign for the
entrance to the Nursery. Pass through the gates. There
are speed bumps along the entranceway but plenty of
parking spaces at the end. The office is on the left
as you enter the yard, the Plant Centre, clearly signed,
is ahead.
From
the North and Banbury, head south along
the A4260. Pass through Deddington, and after about
three-quarters of a mile you will begin the ascent of
Dane Hill. Nearing the crest you will see the signs
for North Aston and Somerton (left) and Duns Tew (right).
Turn left, and follow the directions for North Aston
as above.
From
the East and M40. Exit from the motorway
at Junction 10, adjacent to Cherwell Valley Services.
Take the B430 heading south, signposted Middleton Stoney,
but be prepared to turn right in half a mile, immediately
after the pub in Ardley, and follow the signs for Somerton.
Entering the village of Somerton (after about two miles)
down a steep hill, turn right at the T-junction, signposted
North Aston. Pass under the railway bridge, over the
canal, and then a succession of river and millstream
bridges, before starting the long steady rise towards
North Aston. Enter and pass through the village, with
The Green on your right, and prepare to turn left into
Middle Aston Lane, immediately after a narrows in the
road at the end of The Green. The entrance to the Nursery
will be on your left after 15 yards. Please
note. This route is unsuitable for heavy (or
even moderate) goods vehicles. Drivers in doubt should
phone for further advice.
From
the West and Chipping Norton, visitors
should head along the A361 as if driving to Banbury.
Approximately four miles after leaving Chipping Norton,
bear right (after passing signs for Great Tew, right
and then Wiggington, left) to join the B4031, signposted
Deddington. Pass through Hempton before arriving at
the major crossroads with traffic lights in Deddington,
where they should turn right onto the A4260 Banbury-Oxford
road. Follow the directions as given for travelers from
the North.
