Sadly,
Oxygen Magazine is no longer being published, although
this may be a temporary suspension and the publishers
do hope to have the title up and running again shortly.
Over
the years, since Issue 2 of its predecessor, Monkey
magazine, Cat Wilkins of Nicholson Nurseries prepared
a regular gardening feature entitled "In the Garden"
and, latterly, "Gardening Pointers". We are
delighted to reproduce those here, and suggest you check
out the dates to find out what you should be doing in
the garden this month. In due course we shall redevelop
these pages into a month-by-month guide to what to do
in your garden and, just because we liked it so much,
we'll be hanging on to our animated Monkey for a little
while longer too!

A brand new look for Oxygen, with a larger A4 format,
more colour and increased coverage. Cat Wilkins'
Gardening Tips continue to provide topical tips,
and enjoy a double-page spread. Christmas, and Christmas
Trees in particular, are on the agenda at this time
of year, and Cat provides useful advice on choosing
and caring for your tree. |

Issue
16, August/September 2007
What a wet and dismal summer we had in July, but
August finally promises some sunshine, although
not perhaps until the end of the month. At least
the lawns look lush this year, but September will
offers us the chance to collect seeds and start
planning for 2008. |

Issue
15, June/July 2007
After that wonderful start, with such a warm and
sunny spring, summer got off to a very poor start.
Still, there's work to be done in the garden, with
early-flowering shrubs to be pruned, hanging baskets
to tend, and borders to fill. Watch out for pests
in the veg patch too. |

Issue
14, April/May 2007
It almost feels as if summer has come early, with
several weeks of warm weather welcoming April, but
don't be fooled. The nights can still be chilly.
Even so, look ahead, and plan for water shortages
in June! Deadhead the tulips, prune the roses, and
trim the lawn. |

Issue
13, February/March 2007
The weather remains unseasonably mild, and while
this is the time for pruning, beware any unexpected
frosts. Clear out dead growth from the herbaceous
border, check the lawn for waterlogging, and prepare
the vegetable garden with a generous dressing of
manure. |

Issue
12, December 2006
Christmas is with us, so time to choose a tree.
We recommend the Nordman fir for its bushy branches,
strong colour and no-drop non-prickly needles. Out
in the garden, there are shrubs and roses to prune
as well as winter flowers and colourful berries
to admire. |
