Stowe
House Spring Homes & Garden Show
Saturday 31st March & Sunday 1st April 2007
Intended to be a new show on our calendar for this year,
the Stowe House Spring Fair was supposed to combine
all aspects of home ownership and enjoyment, both indoors
and out. Sadly, it was cancelled at the last moment, so
Nicholsons was unable to take up the prominently positioned
space reserved for us in the Specialist Nurseries section.
Perhaps next year!

Young Farmers Country Fayre
Sunday 27th May 2007
Although we didn't actually have a stand at the Fayre,
we are always ready supporters of this excellent annual
event, and went along to enjoy the day ourselves. Attractions
included parades of tractors and farm machinery, Camel
Racing and Tug-of-War, as well as Craft Tents, Trades
Stands and Fun Fair. In fact, there was something for
everyone at this year’s Oxfordshire Country Fayre!

Great
Tew Horse Trials
Saturday and Sunday, 9th & 10th June 2007
This was our third year as co-sponsors of the Great Tew
Horse Trials, Oxfordshire. Each year this event grows
in stature and popularity, and 2007 was no exception.
Now considered one of the trials in the equestrian
calendar, Nicholson Nurseries sponsored a fence on the
cross-country course.

The
Royal Show
Sunday-Wednesday, 1st-4th July 2007
We couldn't miss the Royal. Each year some 140,000 people
visit this magnificent showcase for all things rural,
maintaining the show's reputation as one of the most significant
of its kind in Europe. All the latest technology and developments
in agriculture and farming stand side-by-side with heritage
and breeding - well, if you include the magnificent livestock
enclosures at least. Set in 250 acres of Warwickshire
parkland near Stoneleigh, the Royal offers a great day
out for all the family. Sadly, 2007's Royal will be remembered
more for the awful weather, with heavy rain turning the
site into a quagmire after just two days, and with the
show closing early as a result.

Bucks
County Show
Thursday
30th August 2007
The one-day county
shows are something of a tradition in England, and they
occur all across the country throughout the summer. The
Bucks is one of the best, and have a stand there each
year. Full details of this year's show are not yet available,
but if 2006 was anything to go by, it will be a tremendous
success. Displays, marching bands, parades, livestock
and horse classes offer main-ring thrills throughout the
day, while tents and enclosures offer static entertainment
in the form of vintage and classic vehicles, the Home
& Garden Marquee, a food hall, Rural Crafts and lots
more for everyone.

Moreton
Show
Saturday 1st September 2007
A relaxed, intimate and delightfully friendly atmosphere
pervades this very Cotswold country show, and it remains
one of our favourites. Somehow the Moreton Show manages
to retain much of the charm of ages past, and it has a
relaxed air that makes for a convivial day out. Trade
stands and craft stalls vie with local produce, floral
displays and odd-shaped vegetables to catch the eye and
the imagination. The show is also the annual day for the
nation's finest Hereford cattle, and these majestic beasts,
together with sheep, goats, pigs and other livestock,
parade with proud owners to be judged.

Wychwood
Forest Fair
Sunday 2nd September 2007
As we pointed out last year, the original Forest Fair
began in the late 18th century, but ceased in 1856, because
of 'drunkenness and debauchery'. There was none of this
unsightly behaviour in evidence last year, but a great
time was still enjoyed by all. The Fair has been revived
and managed by The Wychwood Project, supported by the
Friends of Wychwood, since 2000 and it is now a regular
and much appreciated local event, staged at Charlbury
near Oxford.
