In 2006 we introduced a new service from Nicholsons; Topiary and Specimen Plant Hire. It allowed customers to make the most of that special occasion, be it a wedding reception, a significant birthday party, grand ball, exhibition stand or product launch, by decorating the venue with a selection of stylish topiary plants.

It soon became apparent that our sale prices were so attractive that customers were more keen to buy our specimens outright, often to give as wedding gifts or as lasting mementoes of a special occasion. As a result, the hire service itself has been suspended, but Nicholsons is still able to supply topiary in a wide range of shapes, sizes, colours and textures, as well as handsome feature and specimen shrubs, such as Trachycarpus palms and Standard Bay.

Plants are available through the Nicholsons Plant Centre, which also stocks a wide range of planters and pots, including natural terracotta, terracotta effect in plastic, stone, lead effect in fibreglass, brushed or black-painted zinc, faux- and genuine marble, and wood.

Plant Varieties Suited to Topiary
Some plant species lend themselves better to certain topiary shapes than others. The plant varieties used by Nicholsons are illustrated below.
